Frequently asked questions

Why does the converted text look like English letters?

Kruti Dev stores Hindi on English keys. The result is correct, but it only looks like Hindi when you apply the Kruti Dev 010 font. Paste it into Word, select the text and change the font to Kruti Dev 010.

Which Kruti Dev font does this tool use?

It follows the Kruti Dev 010 key layout, which is the most common one for typing exams and government work. Other fonts such as Devlys or Chanakya use different layouts, so their text will not look right with this output.

Is my text uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs inside your browser, so the text you paste never leaves your device. Once the page has loaded, the converter also keeps working if your internet connection drops.

Why do I see a tilde sign in some words?

A tilde is the Kruti Dev key for a half letter. Rare conjuncts that have no single key are written as a letter plus the tilde. In the Kruti Dev font it shows as the correct half letter, so keep it as it is.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Paste your Hindi text, tap Convert and copy the result. To see it as Kruti Dev Hindi, you still need the Kruti Dev font on the device where you open the file.

What happens to commas, full stops and English words?

Punctuation next to Hindi text is changed to its Kruti Dev key, because Kruti Dev types a comma or full stop with different keys. English-only text is left as it is. Always read the result once before using it.
